Do you know someone who is hurting financially in your neighborhood? You can be a blessing in this very practical way, by giving a pre-packaged box of food called a "Treasure Box". Yes, giving a simple box of food can be used to build a bridge to JESUS! In fact you could build 2 or 3 bridges with one food box if you try. Give your neighbor a pie, or a chicken, or one of those other yummy treasures you get in a '"Treasure Box". The possibilities are endless if you think outside the box! Hey, it's not called a "Treasure Box" for nothing!
HOW TO GET or GIVE A TREASURE BOX (See April 2010 MENU BELOW)
Treasure Boxes cost $30.00 per box and must be pre-paid by Wednesday April 11, 2010. Make checks (Non Member must pay cash) to Christian Mission Church or you can pay cash too. You can give payments to a Deacon at any church service (if you can't find me, give payments to one of our ushers or Deacons), or you can pay for Treasure Boxes directly at our church office during regular office hours Monday through Thursday 9AM to 12PM. Pre-paid Treasure boxes will be available for pick up on Saturday, April 24, 2010 between the hours of 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Christian Mission Church (at the Youth Center) 27812 Forbes Rd., Laguna Niguel, Ca. 92677
Treasure Boxes contain 22-25 lbs. of food, half of which is protein such as chicken, beef, pork, and seafood. Boxes also contain a side dish, vegetable, fruit and a desert. Treasure Boxes are a savings of up to $65.00 off grocery store prices.
Why not take advantage of this savings and reserve one or more boxes. Treasure Boxes will be available on the last Saturday of each month. You can reach out with the love of JESUS to someone who doesn't know Him, and why not invite them to church too!. God Bless you, HOW MUCH DOES A PRAYER WEIGH?
Louise Reden, a poorly dressed lady with a look of defeat on her face, walked into a grocery store. She approached the owner of the store in a most humble manner and asked if he would let her charge a few groceries. She softly explained that her husband was very ill and unable to work, they had seven children and they needed food. John Longhouse, the grocer, scoffed at her and requested that she leave his store.
Visualizing the family needs, she said: 'Please, sir! I will bring you the money just as soon as I can." John told her he could not give her credit, as she did not have a charge account at his store.
Standing beside the counter was a customer who overheard the conversation between the two. The customer walked forward and told the grocery man that he would stand good for whatever she needed for her family.
The grocery man said in a a very reluctant voice, "Do you have a grocery list? Louise replied "Yes sir" "OK." he said: "Put your grocery list on the scales and what ever your grocery list weighs, I will give you that amount in groceries."
Louise, hesitated a moment with a bowed head, then she reached into her purse and took out a piece of paper and scribbled something on it. She then laid the piece of paper on the scale carefully with her head still bowed. The eyes of the grocery man and the customer showed total amazement when the scales went down and stayed down.
The grocery man, staring at the scales, turned slowly to the customer and said begrudgingly, "I can't believe it." The customer smiled and the grocery man started putting the groceries on the other side of the scales.
The scale did not balance so he continued to put more and more groceries on them until the scales would hold no more. The grocery man stood there in utter disgust. Finally, he grabbed the piece of paper from the scales and looked at it with even greater amazement. It was not a grocery list, it was a prayer, which simply said: "Dear Lord, you know my needs and I am leaving this all in your hands."
The grocer man gave her the groceries that he had gathered and placed on the scales and stood in stunned silence. The customer handed a fifty-dollar bill to John as he said, "It was worth every penny."
It was sometime later that John Longhouse discovered the scales were broken: Therefore, only God knows how much a prayer weighs.
